Resurrection of the Blogging!

Hi everyone of you 187 people who have viewed my blog.
Wow has it been awhile! only a little over 2 years. Life has a funny way of effecting you. I would like to think that I have gotten better at the photography, but I also think that I have hit a slump of some kind or a dry spell. Not so much in taking photos, but in having sessions. I seem to fight more and more for having sessions, but everyone wants to save money so they go to someone with less experience and hope they will get those glow-worthy photos. The ones that make you smile and do a little dance inside. The ones that make you radiate happiness when you think of them. That is my hope for every session that I do. Fighting for sessions though is not something I feel comfortable with. I have 3 children, am going to school full-time, and I love what I do. I feel horrid though when someone wants me to accept doing photos for them at rates which I no longer feel are adequate to what I provide.
Let me break it down for you.
I schedule a session with someone.
They want to do a regular family session.
The time I spend for this session:

~First talking about the session~
15-30 minutes ~ gathering information from you, about your family, what you are looking for, who will be in the session, if you have any hobbies, likes/dislikes, if you have any ides, etc.
I spend the evening prepping
~The day/night before~
45 minutes - 1 and a half hours ~ prep time - getting everything ready, props, browsing through my pinterest boards and pinterest in general for ideas. (some times I spend even more time doing this, I want to make sure that I get you those glow worthy photos)
~Day of~
45 minutes - hour and a half ~ for the session itself.
~In the days following the session~
I spend anywhere from 10 - 20 hours editing the photos.

All of that adds up to about 12 hours of work on the short end of the spectrum.
So on a short session at regular rates I make about $12 an hour (which is great!). However, those sessions are few and far between the average tends to be closer to a long processed session with over 20 hours put in on the session it leaves me with less than $7 an hour. Again I love what I get to do. I LOVE IT!

I love my family though as well. I will keep providing the sessions. But I do not think I will be doing so at the lower rates any longer. They take to much time from my family with little return.

This is a passion of mine, I want to share it with the world. So please check out my next post coming soon. Princess Sessions and why I love them so much!

Hello everyone, I'm back, and since I left you last time I have done another Fairytale shoot. This last one was with my neice Caterina and daughter Gianna. Thankfully they were willing to help me with my creative tendincies and did not mind being my models for a shoot that is themed based on a fairytale book that I am writing.

The Fairytale itself I hope to have self published by early November, I am illustrating the pictures based off of the pictures I have taken and will take.

The first as you can see is of the princess as a child, the princess is of couse a main character. She loves the meadows and studying the purple and blue roses that grow throughout the kingdom.

The model for when the princess is older; is my neice Catarina, will be doing yet another shoot with me to add a few more photos to my collection.

The Fairytale has 4 main characters and 3 supporting characters. As of now I have only photographed the princess but do have willing friends and family members who are willing to model for me as the remaing few characters for me so hopefully I will have more photos to add soon.

I am honestly though just so excited as I am being able to do more themed shoots, and I absoultely love to be able to do that. The fact that I am able to visualize something in my mind then create it and let others see what I see.

One of my favorite types of shoots are fairytale or themed shoots. This session was my first with an infant and wings... lets just say I absolutely loved it!!!

After the infant fairy wings I was hooked. I hit Walmart at the perfect time that weekend to see the associates setting up an Easter display for fairy sets. Then I decided my two year old also needed some flowers for her bedroom, perfect excuse for buying what I wanted for the shoot, right ;)

This is what the end result looked like.

This last one just might be my favorite. Probably because it reminds me of: The Breakfast Club!

After these shoots, I can't wait until I am able to do more fun ones. I even went as far as finding costumes based on the fairytale I'm writing (I love anything that I can be creative with) I just need to find a model or someone who has something fun they want to do!
Hello, my name is Angela, I have started this blog for a few reasons. Mainly to share my opinions and feelings about the photos I take, but also to provide another option for people to view my work and provide an additional point of contact.

I figure this is the place where I can tell everyone why I love photography so much. Well to be honest it is a pretty simple reason.

I love making people happy. If I can do that by capturing a moment in time or make myself happy by capturing a memory that I will cherish - I want to do so. The euphoric feeling that happens when you capture that perfect photo, which words alone could not describe.

As you will see my children tend to be one of my main subjects... as when I have an idea, if I do not have a session with someone who wants to be adventurous with me, they do not have much choice :)
